HTML Editing Tools

NetSmith provides many tools for HTML editing, many of which can only be found in NetSmith. You already learned about Syntax Coloring, Indent Preservation, and Show Invisibles in the Preferences section.

Find and Replace are the same as in any other text editor, except that NetSmith also adds Find Next and Replace, Case Sensitivity, and Find Whole Word. All of these actions can be found under the Find menu inside the Edit menu.

Go To Line and Go To Tag will take you to a particular line or HTML tag. You must enter the line or tag number (like to go to the second tag in the document, you would type in 2 in Go To Tag). Both are found under the Edit menu.

Document Information provides you with information about the size of the text, file path, etc. It also has a return tag feature that allows you to opotionaly insert a tag before or after every return is inserted. The small arrow button in the upper right hand corner of the window will give you a few shortcuts for inserting the creation date, file path, file name, etc of the current document, and is disabled when the current document has never been saved. It is located under the Window menu.

Insert Date and Insert Time under the Edit menu wil allow you to insert the date and time.

Plain HTML provides you with different types of empty tags, comments, and quotes. It is under the Insert menu.
